About the Founders

Updaytr was founded by Chuck Wooters, Mitch Wooters, and Natasha Hughes - a team combining expertise in conversational AI, construction management, and creative problem-solving.

Chuck Wooters is a veteran of conversational AI and human-language technology with over 30 years of experience. He currently serves as Head of AI at DisplaceTV, building highly personalized multimodal conversational agents. His career includes senior research and engineering roles at Apple, Microsoft, Semantic Machines, Marr Labs, and BBN Technologies. Chuck's work has focused on deep-learning models for spoken dialogue, speaker diarization, automatic speech recognition, and natural-language understanding. He holds a Ph.D. in Speech Recognition and MA/BA degrees in Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mitch Wooters brings more than three decades of construction-industry experience to Updaytr. His background spans training and development, project management, director-level field operations, and work as a licensed general contractor. Recent roles include Construction Superintendent at Baron Construction and Remodeling and Field Operations Manager at Barbosa Cabinets, where he oversaw approximately 3,900 cabinet installations annually. Mitch is also an OSHA-authorized outreach trainer with extensive skills in process improvement and operations management.

Natasha Hughes is a creative problem-solver whose career spans special-events and hospitality sales. She has developed expertise in event strategy, logistics, budgeting, and client relations. Her collaboration with Chuck on an AI "biographer" for her grandmother - capturing stories by phone rather than typing - sparked the idea that became Updaytr. Natasha holds a BA in Social Sciences from Washington State University and is currently working toward her MA in Analytics at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

The Origin Story

Updaytr started as a family project to help Chuck's mom record her life stories over the phone - speaking was easier than typing for her. When Mitch, a construction supervisor, heard about this AI biographer, he realized it could solve his own challenge: completing detailed daily updates after exhausting days managing job sites. "That would be perfect for my daily updates!" he told Chuck.

This conversation between two brothers sparked the core insight: whether recording life stories, providing construction updates, or brainstorming ideas, the same three-step process applies - collect information through conversation, organize it with AI, and distribute the results via email. What started as a way to help grandma share her stories became a flexible platform for anyone who prefers speaking to typing.
